Pain Perdu

French for "lost bread" This is usually made with stale pieces of French bread. Most people call this French Toast.

INGREDIENTS:

• 2 eggs
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 2 cups milk
• 1/4 tsp cinnamon
• 8 slices thick stale bread
• Margarine
• Confectioner's sugar

DIRECTIONS:

1. In large bowl, beat eggs well
2. Add sugar and continue to mix
3. Add vanilla, milk and cinnamon
4. Soak bread slices in mixture on each side
5. Melt margarine in skillet over medium heat
6. Place bread slices in skillet and cook on each side until golden brown
7. Place on plate and dust with confectioner's sugar.
